Hotlinker Threatens to Sue

I love stuff like this. I mean, let’s be honest now. Most people that have been on the Internet long enough, learn the term hotlinking. This is mainly because hotlinking is where you use someone else’s bandwidth to provide for the images that really should be on your own server (and thus you pay for the hosting cost). Instead, it’s leeching off of someone else to provide images for your website.

Well, strangely enough, after I had read about a local hotlinking issue (NSFW) from Sue, I ran across Jason Kottke’s post on someone threatening to sue another blogger because of they pulled the “hotlinked” images.

Now just let that sink in for a second.

Yes, that’s right. Someone that was stealing the bandwidth, was threatening to sue because the originator of the bandwidth pulled the plug on the theft. That definitely counts as one of those jaw dropping, baka muttering, geeky chuckle moments if I’ve ever saw one.
