Familiar with top? It’s basically the built in process manager that allows you to look at the top hitters in the process list.
And while it’s a great tool, there is some functionality that’s missing. But never fear. htop is here. htop is an alternative process manager that allows customizable graphs and interactive… well..everything. All of the processes can be grouped accordingly and you can see pretty load bars in that awesome ASCII format that we’ve all grown to love.
I actually like it because it uses F-keys and allows you to sort the processes in different orders by default and you can nice processes directly in the manager. Incredibly useful. Wish you could use it for other operating systems, but alas… it’s linux only.
