Gmail IMAP access

gmail.gif If you didn’t know, Gmail now has IMAP access. This is a great thing because previously, POP access was the only thing accessible by Gmail.
The difference between POP and IMAP? Basically, POP allows you to download your email to your client. Say you use Outlook to access your email. If you download it, then you can’t use the Gmail web interface to also have access to the same email. IMAP stores everything on the server, so your client just interacts with the server. Thus, you can always access your account from multiple devices and not worry about having to synchronize email because you’ve downloaded it.
This makes Gmail abundantly more useful since now it doesn’t tie you down with just a single client anymore.
