moblock and moblock-deb

moblock-deb.png Ever heard of PeerGuardian?
Well interestingly enough, there is an open source linux application that will eventually be the official linux port of PeerGuardian. That would be moblock. moblock basically blocks the connections based on a file in the PeerGuardian format and it uses the iptables user space library which for security people basically means…. firewalling.
Thus, it firewalls out anyone you don’t want or known bad IPs that you don’t want in your computer. Yes, this means that you can basically block anyone. moblock-deb is the Debian packages for it, but it also allows you to modify your blocklists, run whitelists, and select different blocklists from different online sources (similar to PeerGuardian again). Pretty sweet eh?
