jkdefrag.gif JkDefrag is probably one of the best, if not one of the only open source defragmentation utilities out there for Windows. It can be completely automated, scheduled, and has multiple optimization strategies to make your system just a whole lot more efficient.
There’s no need to install anything since everything is packaged as the executable files, so you can run it straight out of the box. It even comes with a screensaver so that you can defrag during the times your machine is idle. It’s written in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 so as long as you’re familiar with MSVC files, you’re good to go to play here.
Last of all, it does come with a gui, but it’s pretty simple. The commandline however is probably the thing to note. That’s the powerful but low overhead tool that you would probably want to run due to it being a low-resource draw.
Support for Windows 2000, 2003, XP, Vista and x64.
