RapidoSMTP

RapidoSMTP allows you to turn on the Postfix SMTP server built-into your MacOSX. This basically allows you to send mail directly from your Mac instead of relying on your mail server… regardless on if it’s the ISP or your work. Basically what it does is, instead of sending your mail from your ISP as usual, you send it direct from your local machine as if your local machine is the mail server (and technically speaking, it is one).

  • For the record, this application will not work with RESIDENTIAL accounts that block outgoing SMTP traffic (port 25).
This means that if you’re on a RoadRunner residential account or BellSouth DSL for the home account then you CAN NOT send mail directly from your computer. In these cases your mail MUST be routed through their mail server.
(This doesn’t mean the technology isn’t great… just that because of abusers our ISP overlords have taken away our ability to take advantage of it.)
