VA loses another computer with veteran information

Approximately 38,000 accounts with veteran information went missing at VA contractor firm, Unisys. While it was reported right away when it was discovered missing, and the likelihood of the computer walking too far from the facility is slim due to it being a desktop, it is still a security hole and a terrible one at that.
What’s more confounding is the shocking news of how the VA was spinning the PR.

“VA is making progress to reform its information technology and cyber-security procedures, but this report of a missing computer at a subcontractor’s secure building underscores the complexity of the work ahead as we establish VA as a leader in data and information security,” Nicholson said in his prepared statement.

Leader? Wait, this is coming from one of the agencies that have scored an F for the 3rd straight year in government security audits. The nerve.
