iPod Click of doom? Check cables

Apple iPods are music players that are basically mini-harddrives with a circuit board attached that costs an arm and a leg, and you’re likely to happily give those up for one.
Unfortunately, there’s this side-effect called the “click of doom”. It sounds like a harddrive failure where it creates a “click click click” sound and if you don’t have AppleCare, you’re likely pay your other arm and leg.
No fears. If it’s already out-of-warranty, what do you have to lose? Open the sucker up and check to see if the cable to the harddrive has been jarred loose. If they have, reseat them and voila! you have your iPod in working order again! Mileage may vary. Just make sure that you know what you’re doing when you crack it open because we sure don’t know what we’re doing so we’re not liable for your time as a crazy DIYer.
