Linux WiFi may get better with Devicescape

Devicescape previously only released its device stack to vendors. But with opening up their driver stack to GPL, it believes that it will open a whole new world for wifi upon linux. Currently, there has been no negativity towards merging the Devicescape stack straight into the kernel.
What does this mean? No long will you have to find a Prism based card, or find out if your chipset has been reverse-engineered. It would take a simple mapping layer to allow a linux user the latest and greatest wifi chipsets.
