Dell charges $49 to remove their own spyware

Dell charges you $49 to remove spyware. Any spyware. Even the stuff that comes preloaded onto the system. Apparently they preload the My Way Search Assistant which anti-spyware vendors dictate as spyware for privacy risks. Boy. That’s got to be great to know that you might be infected upon purchase already.

  • Dell isn’t the only one. A friend of mine bought a new PC (I forget the brand as it was something I’d never heard of) about a year ago running Microsoft XP Office and I helped her set it up. I’ve heard of the many problems PCs have so I decided to run McAffee BEFORE we plugged it into the Internet. McAffee found trojans installed from the factory and we had to endure hours on the phone with Microsoft customer service before we could go online.
