BMW’s $10k concept urban vehicle

Now this is something I would want to get my hands on. A Beemer that is fuel efficient, costs only $10k, and handles like a motorcycle. 188 miles to the gallon and it has a top speed of 50 mph. Now that’s a commuter vehicle.

That thing would be great if it wasn’t a rolling death trap. maybe if all our interstates were four lanes woth certain lanes desinated by size asnd type of vehicle or such vehicles were outlawed on highways.

  • Being able to only go 50mph, I doubt very much you can take that on the interstate. Even so, as a motorcyclist, I can tell you that the way people ride now, the injuries sustained in this would be far less than any downed bike.
It’s really made for backroads and inner-city. Definitely only a “1-person” vehicle, as much as you’d like to say that extra seat in the back can fit an adult, it’s like a Porsche 911 having a backseat.
I don’t know the laws, but I’m uncertain it would be illegal in the US on the freeways if it could be faster. Reason being? It just has to pass certain safety requirements. There is a tiny Euro car about the size of two seats, that is legal here and is shorter in length than that Beemer.
