Amusing trackback spam coming from Microsoft

We at LUX don’t usually look at the spam logs, but this was too good to pass up. There was a trackback message for the IP of 207.68.146.58. We thought it was curious when it said that the URL came from MSN.com and the source site and title was: “This is very good”. Bored but rather suspicious, we ran a trace on the IP.
Whoa.
It belongs to Microsoft?

OrgName: Microsoft Corp
OrgID: MSFT
Address: One Microsoft Way
City: Redmond
StateProv: WA
PostalCode: 98052
Country: US
NetRange: 207.68.128.0 – 207.68.207.255
CIDR: 207.68.128.0/18, 207.68.192.0/20

Ahh. At that point, we just couldn’t help but snicker. Microsoft was either 1) unknowingly infected because some admin or manager happened to be surfing and clicking on things they shouldn’t be or 2) they were sending out trackback spam. Either way, it doesn’t bode well.
But what can we say. The fact that it was on a post that was written more than a year ago makes us laugh. And yes. We did publish the spam message, since we found it amusing enough to do so.
