The Art of Raising Angel Capital

Being an entrepeneur isn’t easy. You have to raise capital, and if you’re a smaller business, you have to raise Angel capital (versus venture capital). Both are an art in itself and both are very difficult to acquire unless you’re as smooth as bourbon on the rocks. Guy Kawasaki, a well-known VC, has some tips on how to raise angel capital. This is some seriously good advice and I recommend anyone that is looking for Angel investment to know these tips.

  1. Make sure they are “accredited” investors.
  2. Make sure they’re sophisticated investors.
  3. Don’t underestimate them.
  4. Understand their motivation.
  5. Enable them to live vicariously.
  6. Make your story comprehensible to a spouse.
  7. Sign up people that they’ve heard of.
  8. Be nice.
