Novell signs Australian government to Linux

In the first government contract known for linux, Novell has worked a deal out with the NSW Department of Commerce in the land down under.

“The NSW government has an open standards and interoperability initiative, which is complemented by the use of Linux. It is pleasing to see that government departments will be offered greater choice and that open source will be on a level playing field with alternative solutions,” she said.

Looks like them Aussies are getting it instead of us Americans. Unfortunate, but at least a win for Linux on a whole.
