DHS setting up for cyber security exercises (Feb. 6-10)

Slated for February 6-10th, it’s suppose to gauge the cyber defenses of both government and private sector. The corporate partners: Cisco Systems, Citadel Security Software, CA, Computer Sciences Corp., Intel, Microsoft, Symantec and VeriSign are standing ready to participate although most of the tests were designed by the DHS National Cyber Security Division.
I predict a resounding success. No, not because we have spectacular infrastructure. Mainly because these types of tests are all created to pat management on the backs and are far from realistic. Just take a look at the FEMA hurricane emergency tests that happened before Hurricane Katrina. What about the attacks by chinese hackers dubbed Titan Rain? Mark my words, it’s a waste of taxpayer money for probably movie-based scenarios.
