Deadly F5 attack in Stark County, Ohio

Gee. FUD here? Definitely. FUD is an acronym for Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt. Apparently a student overloaded the school system by setting up a website that connected to the school’s system. When enough users logged on and refreshed their browsers via the F5 command, the system would overload.
What’s REALLY wrong about this? The kid is charged with a felony probably on the basis of a “DoS” attack. My question is… uhh why? This was a manual service. On the level of a prank at most unless he actually committed a bot attack. You have to have a major army of bored people to actually overload a system unless it’s so small that it’s not even worth mentioning.
You know what’s even more funny? The TV site doesn’t name the kid at the beginning, but then does later on.

Stone is charged with a felony and could face jail time.

This is where you sigh and wonder what kind of crazy world we live in and why we even bother with the stupidity.

  • Maybe the whole central office deserves jail time for having such a wimpy system. “Superintendent and entire staff charged with felony and could face jail time.”
