Where have all the reflectors gone?

Since no one pays attention to the cries of motorists when they blind themselves at night when the rain glares off the reflective paint and the road itself, and there is nothing done with forcing better traffic safety when it rains here in lovely North Carolina, I have been forced to serve everyone this song:
Sing it in the tune of Paula Cole’s Where have all the cowboys gone?.
Yes, I was forced to unleash this upon you. Feel my wrath for not installing reflectors in the roads.

Oh I get me ready on my Ducati
I strap the helmet in the pouring rain
Two wheels slick in the moonlight
Blazing fury like the dark knight
Waiting to move into the fast lane
lights glare off the wet asphalt
CHORUS:
Where are the lines again
Where have I gone wrong
Where are my tax dollars
Where have all the reflectors gone
Going to Nussbaum for another meeting
I hit the gas as the clouds loom
The darkened sky
Of mid-July
Later that night the thunder booms
Driving into the downpour
CHORUS:
Where are the lines again
Where have I gone wrong
Where are my tax dollars
Where have all the reflectors gone
I had my xenon bulbs shining tonight
But you don’t even see me when I drive
Don’t broadside me
Don’t broadside me
Don’t broadside me
I can’t stand it anymore
The roads are done in cheap
They took out the old cateyes
They take so frackin’ long
I never liked this song
If someone hits me I’m gonna cry
Why oh why are they gone?
CHORUS:
Where are the lines again
Where have I gone wrong
Where are my tax dollars
Where have all the reflectors gone
Where is the common sense
Where are the statistics
Where does the lane end
Where have all the reflectors gone
Where have all the reflectors gone
Where have all the reflectors gone
Yippee yo, yippee yeah

  • I found them!!! The reflectors– they must have used them all on the new patch of 40 between Gallimore Dairy and Guilford College eastbound. 🙂
And there are lots of lights too. So the reflectors have lots of light to reflect.
Which is nice, but I’d like to spread the wealth a bit around town…

  • Actually, city streets and I-40 are funded by different sources I believe. If I’m not mistaken, GDOT takes care of such areas such as Yanceyville St. I know there used to be reflectors but when it got repaved, bam.. they disappeared. Same with on Wendover.
