Cingular launches HSDPA in two markets

Cingular launches HSDPA in Phoenix and Seattle. HSDPA is a data protocol for UMTS that is capable of up to 8-10Mbits per second if operating in a non-MIMO system. MIMO (Multiple In Multiple Out) systems are capable of up to 20 Mbits per second. That’s some serious bandwidth. Those running CDMA’s 1X-EVDO will need to kick it up another notch or else they’ll get swamped in the cellular high-speed data arena.
