iTrip – the second coming

It looks as though Griffin Technology has released a new iTrip. Comes complete with knob dial and LCD and even a better antenna. All for a price of $39.99. Definitely one of those “I must have because I love iPod gadget porn” type of purchases.
Of course, I’ve already pre-ordered the Smartdeck also. What can I say. I love Griffin’s accessories, and I love my iPod.

  • Why even mess with the iPod when most of the iRiver mp3 players have all those features built-in. Griffin is a 3rd party add-on which brings the iPod up to iRiver standards.

  • 1) I’ve always preferred the iPod over other mp3 players (even though I own 2 others).
    2) It’s a tremendous pain when you have iTunes to convert your aac tunes to mp3. and …
    3) I like having a main unit that has multiple accessories instead of built-in. Built-in just like the VCRs in TVs, are sometimes not the best solution because if one function breaks, you lose the whole item.
The other reason I like it is because antennas wise, you can mess with the accessory itself, or replace it with something else. You can’t do that with a built-in. Ever.
