Google and Goldman Sachs drop $100 million on BPL

$100 million on infrastructure technology? Unfortunately, this is going to cause tremendous issues. Why? BPL (Broadband over Powerline) is filled with interference issues since high voltage lines were not designed to carry data traffic. When doing so, they blast radio interference on all spectrums and basically render those spectrums useless. Among the frequencies being blasted? Military and police bands to family radio services to HAM frequencies.
Personally, I think it’s a bad move by Google. Infrastructure base will cost more to replace and there is no way utility corporations will go out and change their lines for this bit of money. Instead, it will be in the hands of lobbyists.
Sorry Google, but this is one place that I find you made a bad technological move. Quit listening to your management types and go back to listening to your engineering types.
