CT Senator duped by cell phone igniting gas urban legend

CT state Senator Andrea Stillman has been duped by an urban legend. The urban legend itself goes that if you talk on your cellular telephone near gasoline, somehow or another the gasoline will combust from a spark by the mobile phone.

Personal note: Obviously someone doesn’t watch the Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters. They have proved that a mobile phone cannot ignite gasoline by any means (unless you happen to be using a faulty or counterfeit battery and it explodes). Most gasoline fires are ignited from a large spark caused by static from person(s) that re-enter their car.
