Train your Google-fu instead of going to the library

CNN covers a story on how students are staying away from the stone and mortar places of reference: libraries. Many teachers are now requiring “books” as one source of reference since online referencing has become popular. Libraries are a thing of the past.

Personal note: No one ever thought that librarian jobs would be replaced by computing right? Come on. Libraries need to get with the programs and get online. They should be scanning their resources into pdfs, and attackin the online availability of resourcing. Have it as a paid feature ($5/month). If I had access to the library online, I sure wouldn’t bother to go there to do research not to mention you keep the libraries in business without killing off the print. Let’s get with the program. The National Library Archives has a section already online.
